Cuaresma (Año A) - San Juan 4:5-42
El evangelio no es automático.
Siempre
No
////////////////////////////////////
Y mientras confie y obedezca a
Jesús, Jesús mi Señor me guiará.

Lent (Year A) John 4:5-42
The
gospel is not automatic
It is
always good to think of why we do things. For example why did I wake up, took a
shower, had some coffee. Why?
Thinking
of our decisions help us improve our decisions making process and we avoid been
automatic. This can make us insensible
losing our ground and getting lost easily.
There is nothing automatic in the readings today; all messages based on
the events have their purpose.
It
doesn’t matter which is the answer to all the Why… questions, when is related to us at the end
the final respond will be: Because I want to live.
Do I
come to Church to praise God? Do I understand that I must come to praise God
and give him the glory and this is the reason, I want to live?
Do I
live for God, and thru God and by God and that’s my purpose, the reason I live?
Even a Samaritan woman knew the messiah
was coming and she understood Jesus was a prophet. And as she received the
message she went and evangelizes all people where she lived. Come and see, come
and see, this man told me everything about my life, I believe he is the
messiah. And Jesus spent two days with
them because they beg him to stay. Yes, this impure people according to the
Jews and have in mind that by their laws Jesus was sinning because of who this
woman was.
So
whatever I do should be in the name of Jesus and to fulfil what it is expected
of me. So we should come together not only to receive something from God but to
give. Giving means not only tiding but also giving of my time.
Jesus
was tired the gospel said, but still he was working, in other words loving,
caring, spreading God’s teachings, and He was tired.
The
story also emphasize that the disciples were concern because Jesus wasn’t
eating and Jesus said in verse 34: My food is to do what God’s wants!
My
food is to do what God’s wants! You know which is going to be my next question:
What
God wants?
You
and I know that for a Church to be open and for everything to be ready for
Service, with a priest that can bring a message it takes a lot of prayers,
fasting, and efforts. We are all part of this task so we can have a saying in
answering this question. And this morning the spirit suggested that I will open
a moment to see if any of you will like to give testimony and share with us
what you think God wants from you. Think
about it and question yourself in your mind:
What
God wants from me?
//////////////////////////////////////////// This is important because doing God’s work
is not an automatic, it takes effort. And
why should we do what Gods wants?
Because that should be our principal dish, the main food and drink of
our spiritual life.
It is
not easy, we are all human and last week we spoke of the word resilience, it
has to do with how we get back up from traumatic experiences. We will need to
apply this in our life a lot as we walk the path of shadow of death in serving
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let
us follow the Samaritan woman example. Let us also push hard to do what Jesus
did, that even when he was tired, the way he projected himself promoted the
kingdom of God continually. Let us repeat it again and again: As a Christian my
food is to do what God wants. And as I trust and obey Jesus, Jesus my Lord will
lead the way.
What
we need to do is spread the Gospel, but remember that we need to WORK, because
the Gospel, the good news of Jesus, will not spread automatically.
